Gli risposero: «Cornelio centurione, uomo giusto e timorato di Dio, bene accetto a tutto il popolo de' Giudei, ha avuto ordine dall'angelo santo di farti chiamare a casa sua, per udire da te delle cose».

D'un subito, egli prese soldati e centurioni, e corse verso coloro; i quali, veduto il tribuno e i soldati, smisero di battere Paolo.

E legato che l'ebbero con cinghie, Paolo disse al centurione che era lì presente: «V'è egli lecito di flagellare un uomo Romano, neppur condannato?».

Il centurione, udito questo, corse dal tribuno, dicendo: «Che stai per fare? quest'uomo è cittadino Romano!».

E Paolo, fatto chiamare uno dei centurioni, gli disse: «Conduci questo giovine dal tribuno; ha qualche cosa da fargli sapere».

E chiamati due centurioni, disse loro: «Che sian pronti per la terza ora della notte duecento soldati, settanta cavalieri e dugento lancieri, per andar fino a Cesarea;

E dette ordine al centurione di tener Paolo in custodia, lasciandogli qualche sollievo, né si vietasse ad alcuno dei suoi di assisterlo.

- Quando dunque fu determinato di far vela per l'Italia, Paolo e cert'altri prigionieri furon consegnati a un centurione, di nome Giulio, della coorte Augusta.

Qui il centurione, trovata una nave alessandrina che faceva rotta per l'Italia, ci trasferì in essa.

Ma il centurione credeva più al pilota e al padron della nave che non alle cose dette da Paolo.

Paolo disse al centurione e a' soldati: «Se costoro non restano sulla nave, voi non potete scampare».

Ma il centurione, che voleva salvar Paolo, mandò a vuoto quel disegno, ordinando che quanti sapevano nuotare si gettassero giù i primi e andassero a terra;

Había en Cesarea un hombre, llamado Cornelio, centurión de la cohorte Itálica,

Ellos respondieron: «El centurión Cornelio, hombre justo y temeroso de Dios, reconocido como tal por el testimonio de toda la nación judía, ha recibido de un ángel santo el aviso de hacerte venir a su casa y de escuchar lo que tú digas.»

Inmediatamente tomó consigo soldados y centuriones y bajó corriendo hacia ellos

Cuando le tenían estirado con las correas, dijo Pablo al centurión que estaba allí: «¿Os es lícito azotar a un ciudadano romano sin haberle juzgado?»

Al oír esto el centurión fue donde el tribuno y le dijo: «¿Qué vas a hacer? Este hombre es ciudadano romano.»

Pablo llamó a uno de los centuriones y le dijo: «Lleva a este joven donde el tribuno, pues tiene algo que contarle.»

Después llamó a dos centuriones y les dijo: «Tened preparados para la tercera hora de la noche doscientos soldados, para ir a Cesarea, setenta de caballería y doscientos lanceros.

Y ordenó al centurión que custodiase a Pablo, que le dejase tener alguna libertad y que no impidiese a ninguno de los suyos el asistirle.

Cuando se decidió que nos embarcásemos rumbo a Italia, fueron confiados Pablo y algunos otros prisioneros a un centurión de la cohorte Augusta, llamado Julio.

Allí encontró el centurión una nave alejandrina que navegaba a Italia, y nos hizo subir a bordo.

Pero el centurión daba más crédito al piloto y al patrón que no a las palabras de Pablo.

Pero Pablo dijo al centurión y a los soldados: «Si no se quedan éstos en la nave, vosotros no os podréis salvar.»

Now there was a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,

They said, “Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous man and one who fears God, and well spoken of by all the nation of the Jews, was directed by a holy angel to invite you to his house, and to listen to what you say.”

Immediately he took soldiers and centurions, and ran down to them. They, when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, stopped beating Paul.

When they had tied him up with thongs, Paul asked the centurion who stood by, “Is it lawful for you to scourge a man who is a Roman, and not found guilty?”

When the centurion heard it, he went to the commanding officer and told him, “Watch what you are about to do, for this man is a Roman!”

Paul summoned one of the centurions, and said, “Bring this young man to the commanding officer, for he has something to tell him.”

He called to himself two of the centurions, and said, “Prepare two hundred soldiers to go as far as Caesarea, with seventy horsemen, and two hundred men armed with spears, at the third hour of the night.”

He ordered the centurion that Paul should be kept in custody, and should have some privileges, and not to forbid any of his friends to serve him or to visit him.

When it was determined that we should sail for Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners to a centurion named Julius, of the Augustan band.

There the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing for Italy, and he put us on board.

But the centurion gave more heed to the master and to the owner of the ship than to those things which were spoken by Paul.

Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, “Unless these stay in the ship, you can’t be saved.”

But the centurion, desiring to save Paul, stopped them from their purpose, and commanded that those who could swim should throw themselves overboard first to go toward the land

When we entered into Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard, but Paul was allowed to stay by himself with the soldier who guarded him.
