E come essi avevano ancora gli occhi fissi in cielo mentr'egli se ne andava, ecco due uomini in bianche vesti presentarsi,

- E come si fu al giorno della Pentecoste, eran tutti insieme nel medesimo luogo;

e, di subito, si udì dal cielo un tuono, come di vento impetuoso che soffia, e riempì tutta la casa, dov'essi si trovavano.

E come va che noi li udiamo parlare ciascuno nel nostro natio linguaggio?

Costoro non sono già ubriachi, come voi vi pensate; siamo appena alla terza ora del giorno!

Uomini d'Israele, ponete mente a queste parole: Gesù Nazareno, uomo approvato da Dio tra voi con opere potenti e prodigi e segni, che Dio ha fatto per mezzo di lui tra voi, come voi stessi ben sapete;

E siccome lo conoscevano per quello che sedeva alla Porta Bella del tempio a chieder limosina, erano stupefatti e fuor di sé per quel che gli era avvenuto.

E Pietro, vedendo la gran folla, parlò e disse: «Uomini Israeliti, perché vi meravigliate di questo? perché tenete gli occhi su di noi, come se di potenza e bontà nostra avessimo fatto sì che costui cammini?

Infatti, Mosé, disse: - Il Signore Iddio vostro susciterà tra i vostri fratelli un profeta come me; ascoltatelo in tutto quel che vi dirà.

I giudici, minacciatili, li lasciarono andare, non trovando come punirli, a cagion del popolo che tutto glorificava Dio per l'accaduto.

E la moltitudine de' credenti era un cuor solo e un'anima sola; né alcuno c'era che considerasse come suo quel che possedeva, ma avevan tutto in comune.

Allora Pietro disse: «Anania, come mai Satana t'ha così preso il cuore che tu cerchi di mentire allo Spirito Santo con frodare una parte del prezzo del campo?

E ogni giorno, nel tempio e per le case, non cessavano d'insegnare e d'annunziare Gesù come il Cristo.

Allora tutti quelli che sedevano nel Sinedrio; volsero a lui gli sguardi, e il suo volto apparve come il volto d'un angelo.

Ma come si avvicinava il tempo della promessa che Dio aveva fatto ad Abramo, il popolo crebbe e si moltiplicò in Egitto;

ma poi che fu esposto, la figliuola di Faraone lo raccolse e se lo allevò come figlio.

Mi vuoi forse uccidere, come ieri uccidesti l'Egiziano? -

A tal parola Mosé fuggì, e se n'andò come forestiero nella terra di Madian, dov'ebbe due figliuoli.

E Mosé, veduto ciò, si stupì di quella visione; e come si accostava per considerar la cosa, si fece udire questa voce del Signore:

Guardate: questo Mosé, che avevan rinnegato dicendo: - Chi ti ha costituito capo e giudice? -, Dio lo mandò come capo e liberatore sotto la guida dell'angelo apparsogli nel roveto.

Questo è quel Mosé, che disse a' figliuoli d'Israele: - Dio vi susciterà di mezzo a' vostri fratelli un Profeta; ascoltatelo, come me avete ascoltato. -

Ma Dio si rivolse da loro, e li abbandonò al culto degli idoli, come sta scritto nel libro de' profeti: "Casa d'Israele, eran forse vittime e sacrifici, che m'offrivate, durante i quarant'anni nel deserto,

Il tabernacolo della testimonianza era co' padri nostri nel deserto, come Dio aveva ordinato parlando a Mosé, che lo facesse nella forma che gli fu data a vedere;

L'Altissimo però non abita in templi fatti da man d'uomo come dice il profeta:

Gente di dura cervice, incirconcisi di cuore e d'orecchi, voi resistete sempre allo Spirito Santo! Come fecero i padri vostri, allo stesso modo fate voi.

Voi, che avete ricevuta la legge come trasmessavi da angeli, e non l'avete osservata».

Quello gli rispose: «Come posso capirlo se nessuno me lo spiega?». E pregò Filippo che salisse su e si mettesse a sedere vicino a lui.

Pietro si levò, e andò con essi; e, come fu giunto, lo menarono nella sala di sopra; e tutte le vedove gli furono attorno, piangendo, mostrandogli le vesti e i mantelli d'ogni genere che Dorcade faceva per esse.

pio e timorato di Dio, come tutta la sua famiglia, egli faceva molte limosine a' poveri e molte orazioni a Dio.

E come l'angelo che gli parlava se ne fu partito, Cornelio chiamò due de' suoi domestici e un soldato timorato di Dio, di quelli sottoposti a lui,

e, come Pietro entrava, gli andò incontro, e, cadutogli a' piedi, lo adorò.

Allora Pietro riprese a dire: «E si può mai proibir l'acqua, sì che non siano battezzati questi che han ricevuto lo Spirito Santo come noi?».

dicendo: «Come mai sei entrato in casa d'uomini incirconcisi, e hai mangiato con loro?».

Or com'io avevo cominciato a parlare, lo Spirito Santo discese su loro, come da principio su noi.

Dio l'ha adempita con i nostri figli, risuscitando Gesù, come sta scritto anche nel salmo secondo: "Mio Figlio sei tu; oggi io ti ho generato".

Or David, servito che ebbe in vita sua al disegno di Dio, s'addormentò, e, come i suoi padri, vide la corruzione.

Al loro arrivo, adunarono la chiesa, e raccontarono le grandi cose che Dio aveva fatto con essi, e come aveva aperta ai Gentili la porta della fede.

Dio dunque, che conosce i cuori, si dichiarò per essi, dando loro lo Spirito Santo, come l'ha dato a noi.

Simone ha narrato come da principio Dio stabilì di trarre da' Gentili un popolo per il suo nome.

E ben s'accordano alle sue le parole de' profeti, siccome è scritto:

Siccome abbiamo inteso che alcuni de' nostri, a cui non avevamo dato alcun incarico, partendo vi han turbato co' loro discorsi, sconvolgendo gli animi vostri;

E dopo alcuni giorni, Paolo disse a Barnaba: «Torniamo a visitare i fratelli in tutte le città dove abbiamo annunziato la parola del Signore, e veder come si comportano».

E alcuni di loro credettero, e s'unirono a Paolo e Sila; come pur fecero un gran numero di proseliti e di Gentili e non poche donne nobili.

E molti di loro, come non piccol numero di donne Gentili ragguardevoli e d'uomini, credettero.

poiché in lui abbiam la vita, il movimento e l'essere, come anche alcuni de' vostri poeti hanno detto: - Noi siamo progenie di lui. -

e siccome era dello stesso mestiere, andò a stare e a lavorare con loro: facevano il mestiere di fabbricanti di tende.

Siccome però questi gli facevan contrasto e bestemmiavano, egli, scotendosi le vesti, disse loro: «Il sangue vostro ricada sul vostro capo; io non ne ho colpa; d'ora in poi me n'andrò a' Gentili».

E come Paolo era lì pronto a parlare, Gallione disse a' Giudei: «Se si trattasse di qualche delitto, di qualche grave misfatto, io, o Giudei, vi darei ascolto come ragion vuole;

e siccome questi lo pregavano di fermarsi più a lungo, Paolo non acconsentì;

Ma siccome alcuni si ostinavano a non credere, e sparlavano della dottrina del Signore dinanzi alla moltitudine, egli, separatosi da loro, riunì a parte i discepoli, e tenne ogni giorno adunanza d'istruzione nella scuola d'un certo Tiranno.

Allora il segretario, riuscendo ad acquietare la folla, disse: «Uomini Efesini, chi è fra gli uomini che non sappia come la città di Efeso è adoratrice della grande Diana, prole di Giove?

I quali, venuti, si raccolsero intorno a lui, ed egli disse: «Voi sapete come, dal primo giorno che venni in Asia, io mi sia sempre diportato con voi,

sapete come non abbia trascurato d'annunziarvi nulla di ciò che è utile, e d'istruirvi, in pubblico e per le case,

E siccome non potevamo persuaderlo, ci quietammo dicendo: «Sia fatta la volontà del Signore».

Fai dunque così come ti diciamo: Son presso di noi quattro uomini, che hanno fatto voto;

E continuò: «Io sono un Giudeo nato a Tarso di Cilicia, ma allevato in questa città, istruito ai piedi di Gamaliele nell'esatta osservanza della legge de' nostri padri, zelante della legge come siete voi tutti, oggi;

E Paolo, dopo che il governatore gli ebbe fatto segno di parlare, rispose: «Siccome so che da molti anni tu governi questa nazione, con maggior fiducia parlo in mia difesa.

Ma Paolo rispose: «Io sto al tribunale di Cesare, e qui mi si deve giudicare. A' Giudei non ho fatto torto, come tu sai molto bene.

Io però ho riconosciuto che non ha fatto nulla che meriti la morte; e siccome egli stesso s'è appellato ad Augusto, io ho deciso di mandarlo.

E siccome quel porto non era adatto a svernare, i più furon di parere di partirne e, se fosse possibile, spingersi fino a Fenice, porto di Creta, che guarda a libeccio e a maestro, e di passarvi l'inverno.

e siccome la nave era portata via, non potendo resistere al vento, noi la lasciammo andare, trascinati con essa.

Perciò, uomini, fatevi animo, perché ho fede in Dio che avverrà così, come m'è stato detto.

Esta palavra, vós bem sabeis, veio por toda a Judéia, começando pela Galiléia, depois do batismo que João pregou

Dizendo: Entraste em casa de homens incircuncisos, e comeste com eles.

Mas Pedro começou a fazer-lhes uma exposição por ordem, dizendo:

E, quando comecei a falar, caiu sobre eles o Espírito Santo, como também sobre nós ao princípio.

E, havendo-lhes, por comum consentimento, eleito anciãos em cada igreja, orando com jejuns, os encomendaram ao Senhor em quem haviam crido.

E dali navegaram para Antioquia, de onde tinham sido encomendados à graça de Deus para a obra que já haviam cumprido.

E Paulo, tendo escolhido a Silas, partiu, encomendado pelos irmãos à graça de Deus.

Ele começou a falar ousadamente na sinagoga

E subindo, e partindo o pão, e comendo, ainda lhes falou largamente até à alvorada

Agora, pois, irmãos, encomendo-vos a Deus e à palavra da sua graça

E, quando já era dia, alguns dos judeus fizeram uma conspiração, e juraram, dizendo que não comeriam nem beberiam enquanto não matassem a Paulo.

E, sendo chamado, Tértulo começou a acusá-lo, dizendo: Visto como por ti temos tanta paz e por tua prudência se fazem a este povo muitos e louváveis serviços,

Se fiz algum agravo, ou cometi alguma coisa digna de morte, não recuso morrer

E, entretanto que o dia vinha, Paulo exortava a todos a que comessem alguma coisa, dizendo: É já hoje o décimo quarto dia que esperais, e permaneceis sem comer, não havendo provado nada.

E, tendo já todos bom ânimo, puseram-se também a comer.

E, havendo Paulo ajuntado uma quantidade de vides, e pondo-as no fogo, uma víbora, fugindo do calor, lhe acometeu a mão.
